Live Longer, Avoid These Carcinogenic Foods

List of Carcinogenic Food to Avoid

Food as we know is very important for the survival of all living organism. It's important both for energy generation and in supplying the body with much needed vitamins and minerals, including other essential nutrients that are necessary for the body to survive. However, despite the importance of food to us, some foods are also harmful to our body, and one of such foods are Carcinogenic foods.

Carcinogenic foods are food that contains cancer causing compounds such as the Aflatoxins found in rotten groundnut and cashew nut. Another major cancer causing food that now pose a threat to our health especially those living in urban areas are processed and genetically modified foods.

In this article we will be listing out some of the major carcinogenic food so as we will know them and try to avoid ingesting the into our body system.
  • Tobacco: This shouldn't be a surprise to us at all. Tobacco is well known and consume everywhere around the world today, but the fact is it can wreak havoc on a person’s body when it’s smoked or chewed. Smoking tobacco, inhaling secondhand smoke, or using smokeless tobacco whether chewing tobacco or snuff all put loads of carcinogenic chemicals into your body.
  • Processed meats: Most processed meat products, including lunch meats, bacon, sausage, and hot dogs, contain chemical preservatives that make them appear fresh and appealing, but that can also cause cancer. Both sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate have been linked to significantly increasing the risk of colon and other forms of cancer, so be sure to choose only uncured meat products made without nitrates, and preferably from grass-fed sources.
  • Sugar: The fact is sugar tends to encourage cancer growth. Without it, cancer cells can’t grow and spread in fact, they need almost 50 times more sugar to function than regular cells, according to Dr. Nasha Winters, author of The Metabolic Approach to Cancer. In addition, up to 80 percent of cancers are fueled by glucose and insulin, in one way or another. It’s easy to see why too much sugar in the diet is a very bad thing. In fact, the less refined sugar, the better!
  • Genetically-modified organisms (GMOs): It goes without saying that GMOs have no legitimate place in any cancer-free diet, especially now that both GMOs and the chemicals used to grow them have been shown to cause rapid tumor growth. But GMOs are everywhere, including in most food derivatives made from conventional corn, soybeans, and canola. However, you can avoid them by sticking with certified organic, certified non-GMO verified, and locally-grown foods that are produced naturally without biotechnology.
  • Artificial Sweeteners: According to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the link between artificial sweeteners and cancer is inconclusive but possible. Since some studies have shown a correlation between the two in lab animals, the current recommendation is to avoid artificial sweeteners like aspartame and saccharine altogether.
  • Hydrogenated oils: They are commonly used to preserve processed foods and keep them shelf-stable. But hydrogenated oils alter the structure and flexibility of cell membranes throughout the body, which can lead to a host of debilitating diseases such as cancer. Some manufacturers are phasing out the use of hydrogenated oils and replacing them with palm oil and other safer alternatives, but trans fats are still widely used in processed foods.

Conclusion

Cancer is a killer disease, and great measures must be taken is other to prevent it's growth and development in our body. sometime, we tends to invite it by the type of food we consume without the knowledge of the repercussions.
